Mosaic, one of the world's largest producers of combined phosphates and potash, presented the products from its newly launched Mosaic Biosciences line at Bahia Farm Show 2024.
According to the manufacturer, these biological technologies ″improve soil health and support the natural biology of plants, containing microorganisms and natural compounds in their formulation.″
To manage water stress, the company launched the growth-promoting inoculant MBio Hidro. Mosaic says this product ″protects the crop against water scarcity and excessive heat, promoting more tolerant plants.″
To increase nutrient use efficiency, the manufacturer presented MBio Brad, MBio Azo, and MBio Phos products, which enhance nitrogen and phosphorus availability to plants. According to Mosaic, these technologies maximize growth and promote a more resilient production system.
Another product presented by the company at the event was Performa Bio, which ensures even more efficiency in fertilization with maximum nutrient utilization. ″With a triple-action model, Performa Bio nourishes, balances, and strengthens crops, contributing to more balanced and tolerant plants to environmental interferences,″ the manufacturer said.
The company cited research indicating that soybean yields increased by 5.1 bags per hectare, representing nearly a 10% increase in crop yield compared to conventional management.
Rural producers visiting the fair also had the opportunity to learn about Aspire, which, according to Mosaic, offers balanced nutrition to crops. ″Aspire is a potassium-based product with two sources of boron in a single granule, providing two methods of release: one immediate and the other gradual,″ explained Mosaic product manager Filipe Miranda.
Thus, he explained, one form of boron becomes readily available to the plant, while the other is released slowly during its development.
″The result is uniform nutrient distribution and higher productivity,″ Miranda highlighted. Soybean fields treated with the product saw a productivity increase of 3.5 bags per hectare, performing better than fields with conventional management.
Mosaic also announced at the Bahia Farm Show the construction of a new fertilizer blending unit, involving an investment of BRL400 million. The start of operations is scheduled for 2025, with an initial production of 500,000 tons in the first year, reaching an annual production capacity of 1 million tons by 2028.
Considering the region's growth, the volume of fertilizer deliveries is estimated to reach 9.3 million tons between 2025 and 2032.
