The market for biological inputs has been growing and gaining more traction among the new generation of agricultural producers in Brazil.

Eric Emiliano.jpgEric Emiliano, director of L.E.K. Consulting, stated this during his presentation "Opportunities in the Bioinput Industry and Distribution" at BioSummit 2024, which AgroPages covered.

According to a survey by L.E.K. Consulting released during the event, 78% of respondents already used biological products on their farms. The age group of Brazilian farmers who mostly adopt bioinputs is between 36 and 55 years. "The Brazilian farmer has the lowest average age in the world, and this factor greatly favors the adoption of new technologies such as biologicals," Emiliano emphasized.

Additionally, he highlighted two key factors for the growth of this market: the first is the work companies have done to launch products in Brazil. The second factor is "generating this demand among farmers and developing this market," stated the director of L.E.K. Consulting.

Emiliano noted that Brazil has been practicing regenerative agriculture for some time and is at the forefront of this segment globally. The director also emphasized that the public and private sectors, especially universities and the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), are well-connected to keep this market prominent.

Area With Bioinputs

Currently, 36% of Brazil’s cultivated areas, equivalent to about 84 million hectares, use some type of biological input. Agricultural engineer Cristiano Limberger from Kynetec presented this data, underscoring the steady growth of the bioinput market in the country

The data presented are the results of a study conducted in 2022 cities, collected by around 85 researchers who interviewed 14,500 farmers. Limberger said this growth is very positive and indicates that the trend is towards using bioinputs in Brazilian crops to consolidate and expand further.

"According to our study, there is still a lot of growth potential for usage," the Kynetec specialist evaluated.
