Brazilian multinational Agrocete announced exclusively to AgroPages that it will begin offering biological products for pest control.

The company, already active in adjuvants, physiological products, biologicals, and nutrition, stated that entering the crop protection segment "reinforced its commitment to the development of more sustainable agriculture."

oqRzIKsudX.jpgAgrocete revealed it would launch three new products in its portfolio: a bionematicide, a biofungicide, and a bioinsecticide – all for various agricultural crops. These new products will would be launched in the coming months, and AgroPages has learned that the new line has been branded "GRAP Bees."

After five years of planning and observing the need for new solutions for farmers, R$12 million was invested in the launches. The total investment to support the company's new biocontrol business includes the construction of a new plant in the Brazilian state of Paraná.

"The possibility of offering products for more sustainable management, which also enables greater profitability for the producer, is what motivated us to enter the biocontrol market," explained Andrea de Figueiredo Giroldo, Agrocete's Marketing and Development Director.

According to her, biologicals for pest control are part of the sustainable innovations adopted by Brazilian agribusiness in response to climate changes and the need to increase production due to population growth without losing operational efficiency in the field.

For Agrocete, which has been active in the biological inoculants market since 1998 and produces this category of products for 33% of Brazil's agricultural area, entering the biocontrol market was a natural progression.

"We have always been present in the biological market, following biocontrol research, biotechnology evolution, and microorganism prospecting," Giroldo explained.

With the portfolio expansion, she stated, the intention is for these products "to offer synergy with the company's current products, bringing better control results, thus avoiding the need for reapplication and increasing productivity."

To achieve this synergy, Agrocete presented its "Productivity Construction" project. This concept understands that productivity in the field is not the result of isolated actions but involves a series of farmer decisions, ranging from field preparation for planting to harvest, all through three axes: ‘Planting, Vigor and Rooting,’ ‘Start and Growth Strength,’ and ‘Application Technology.’

"Thus, biocontrol becomes part of the group of products that ensure profitable and effective crop management. But it is the planning of all phases of Productivity Construction that will ensure we better explore the maximum productive potential," emphasized the Marketing and Development Director of Agrocete.

For their launch, she highlights, the new products went through a long process within the Research and Development (R&D) sector to offer extreme quality and consistent results. The standard procedure within the company, she explains, is that any product to be launched goes through a multifaceted process involving even a New Products Committee and various teams and sectors, constant technical training with the team, as well as a series of external works and field research in partnership with research institutions and universities.

"In this way, we select products with extreme quality and consistent results that make sense within the Productivity Construction line, with performance, quality, and applicability, while demonstrating to be a sustainable and effective option for both the environment and the farmer," explained Lays Costa, Agrocete's Research and Development Coordinator.
