Syngenta, a global leader in agriculture, has launched new product under its newest subsidiary, "SONIVA," delivering high-quality seeds in the Southeast Asia region at the Syngenta Seeds factory Khoktum-Phatthana Nikhom plant, Lopburi Province. Committed to propelling Thailand as the seed hub, Syngenta provides effective solutions and unparalleled support, focusing on small-scale farmers in Southeast Asia. With a mission centered around ensuring accessibility for small-scale farmers to high-quality agricultural products that meet their demands.


The Soniva brand is the collaboration between Syngenta Seeds (Thailand) Company Limited and ACSEN Agriscience Limited, a major seed company in India.  They collaborate to introduce innovations in plant breeding and agricultural technology to launch in Thailand, aiming to make Thailand a hub and expand to key markets in Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, the Philippines, and Myanmar.  Soniva focuses on reaching small-scale farmers, providing them with access to high-quality seeds, including a diverse range of genetically diverse seeds that meet market demands.  Soniva provides a wide range of crop seeds such as sweet corn, waxy corn, tomato, chili pepper, bush bean, okra, snake gourd, calabash, yard long bean, winter melon, cucumber, melon, gourd, bitter gourd, pumpkin, and watermelon.


Mr. Mike Cai, Business Lead of 'SONIVA' & Territory Lead for Southeast Asia for Syngenta business, stated, "Soniva is not just a business, but a comprehensive environmental system that comprises strong alliances, cutting-edge technology, and a focus on farmers' demand. All of these aspects contribute to elevating the agricultural sector, particularly benefiting small-scale farmers in Southeast Asia, with Thailand being investment hub in this initiative.  This will help lead and expand into other countries across the ASEAN region."


The launch of Soniva is a new beginning era that presents specific agricultural solutions tailored to the diverse needs of small-scale farmers in the Southeast Asian region. In the future, Soniva aims to foster sustainable growth for small-scale farmers in the region and plans to expand into various markets including a wide range of new products that serve their demands and challenges. Additionally, there are plans to introduce 23 new products within the first quarter of 2024.


Soniva's team gains insights into the demands and obstacles in agricultural industry in Southeast Asia.  With expertise and agility in executing their work, they can efficiently and promptly respond to market changes.  Soniva is aware that farmers face various changes and climate variabilities, such as irregular rainfall, droughts, and water shortage for cultivation, as well as plant diseases and pest infestations.  Therefore, having diverse, high-quality seeds that have specific traits such as drought resistance, disease resistance, and adaptability to changes is crucial.  These seeds serve as important solutions and aids for farmers.
