At Agrishow 2024, the Brazilian company Orion presented the GreenSystem FA 1500 Double Shot, the world's first equipment capable of simultaneously applying biological and chemical inputs in the same planting line.

Specializing in equipment for applying liquid products in the soil, Orion announced that this product results from a strategic partnership with the multinational John Deere.

The FA 1500 Double Shot features two fully independent hydraulic circuits, which can work with variable rate application and section control. The new equipment has two tanks - the main one, with a capacity of 1,500 liters, which accommodates biological inputs and has a 75 l/min pump. The secondary tank has a capacity of 120 liters, for chemical inputs, with a 36 l/min pump.

The nozzle for chemical input application is positioned just after the cutting disc and should work at greater depth, thus avoiding contact with the bio-input. The nozzle for biological input application is placed just after the double discs for furrow opening. This way, both applications can be performed in the same planting line.

"With this technology, the producer gains productivity because, while inoculating the entire area, they can simultaneously apply a nematicide in a localized manner, saving product and fuel and having a faster return on investment. In addition to operational gains, they will gain in productivity and sustainability with soil regeneration,″ explained Rodrigo Alandia, director of marketing and new business at Orion.

In addition to the new equipment, Orion will use its presence at the Agrishow to introduce the Cygni app, the company's digital agriculture brand. The new app allows remote monitoring of crops through satellite images for processing and generating maps for future localized and variable-rate applications. The telemetry function will be introduced later this year for real-time machine monitoring.

This will allow better farm management and increased productivity for our customers," said Alexandre Santiago, vice president of Orion.

Founded in 1967 by Ricardo Rodrigues da Cunha, current president and director of research and development, the Brazilian company is also eyeing other markets and working to consolidate an ambitious business expansion plan in Latin American markets.

Currently, Orion sells in Bolivia, Colombia, Uruguay, Ecuador, and Paraguay. In the last-named, in addition to its commercial presence, the brand is preparing to open a factory to better serve customers in this important market.

The next step is the European market, where Orion already has equipment in the demonstration and validation phase with partner Koppert from the Netherlands. The company plans to establish its operations in Portugal to serve all markets on that continent.

Ricardo Rodrigues da Cunha.jpg"North America is also on the company's radar, as the use of bio-inputs is gaining strength; our bio-input manufacturer partners need the product to be applied with excellence and rely on Orion to meet this requirement," adds Ricardo Cunha, president of Orion.

In addition to the current factory, Orion will invest around BRL25 million in constructing a new and modern factory in the interior of the Brazilian state of São Paulo, expected to be inaugurated in 2024.
