One of the novelties is the compound, Inscalis, which controls insects that damage crops such as potatoes and tomatoes. According to the manufacturer, Afidopyropen is the key component of the insecticide, Inscalis, with the fungus, Penicillium coprobium, naturally producing the substance.

By optimizing growth conditions and chemical synthesis, BASF scientists were able to significantly increase yield. According to BASF, Inscalis sets ″a new standard in the market,″ resulting from ″innovative and collaborative scientific methods, such as white biotechnology, leveraged to create a precise solution to control piercing pests, including Hemiptera such as aphids, whiteflies, psyllids, scale insects, and leafhoppers.″

Derived from a natural fermentation process, Inscalis has a favorable environmental profile that minimizes the impact on important beneficial arthropods and pollinators. With a rapid onset action, Inscalis quickly stops the feeding of insect pests, reducing nutrient loss and the vectoring of harmful viral and bacterial pathogens.

Another global release from BASF is Revysol (Mefentrifluconazole), which is aimed at treating diseases affecting crops, such as potatoes, apples, tomatoes, grapes, and citrus.

Katty Corrente.jpeg″The company invests around €950 million annually in the research and development (R&D) of innovations aimed at crops worldwide,″ said Katty Corrente, Head of Horticulture Crops Marketing for Agriculture Solutions at BASF. This highlights BASF’s commitment to the success of agricultural production, she added.

″We understand the complexity of agricultural production and contribute with alternatives for efficient management, which will result in higher volume and quality production without losing focus on sustainability. BASF maintains a strong commitment to sustainability, constantly seeking solutions that promote even more sustainable practices,″ she said in conclusion.
