At the Expodireto 2024 fair, BASF unveiled its latest innovation, the fungicide, Keyra, which will be released for the 2024-25 soybean crop season.
The new fungicide incorporates two active ingredients, Mefentrifluconazole (Revysol) and Fenpropimorph, a highly effective combination against soybean cercospora and rust, as well as end-of-cycle diseases, BASF said.
The launch completes the BASF Soy Solutions platform against diseases for upcoming crops, it added. As well as Keyra, the platform includes Belyan (Mefentrifluconazole + Pyraclostrobin + Fluxapyroxad) and Blavity (Fluxapyroxad + Prothioconazole).
Vitor Bernardes, Senior Manager of Marketing, Crop and Soy Portfolio at BASF, said these products offer unique features and excellent benefits for farmers. Belyan aims to increase soy crop productivity by protecting each leaf from the bottom, keeping them green and healthy, he added.
Formulated with the active ingredient, Revysol, it stands out as the first available Isopropanol-Azol and has a broad spectrum of action, rapid absorption, high selectivity, excellent performance, and zero phytotoxicity. The Power Flex technology, an integral part of Belyan, adapts to various fungal characteristics, providing resilience, power, and flexibility when combating pathogens.
According to Bernardes, Belyan is a robust tool for initial application on soy, typically around 30 to 35 days. It is a broad-spectrum fungicide that acts against cercospora (Cercospora kikuchii) and target spot caused by Corynespora cassiicola, among others, he added.
In the BASF Soy Solutions platform, Belyan sets the stage for the subsequent use of Prothioconazole-based fungicides, such as Blavity (second application). Blavity combines Fluxapyroxad (Xemium) and Prothioconazole and is an excellent option for controlling diseases such as soybean rust caused by Phakopsora pachyrhizi, as well as target spot, creating a dual protection barrier against fungi. It also inhibits spore germination and interferes with hyphae development.
