Syngenta’s US$112 million investment: Establishing a global formulation production hub in Nantong, Jiangsu Province

Syngenta Group China announced plans to build a new protection formulation production hub in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone at the signing ceremony on February 5, 2024.

With an estimated total investment of US$112 million, the new factory is positioned as a global cutting-edge factory and production base for Syngenta Group. The factory will produce patented insecticides and fungicides with high efficacy, low toxicity, environmentally friendliness, and high added value to meet the rapidly growing demand of Chinese and global plant protection formulation markets. 

This investment is applying the strategy of Syngenta Group as ″In China, For China″ and ″In China, For The World″. The project is scheduled to commence construction this year and be put into production in 2026.

Su Fu, President of Syngenta Group China, emphasized Nantong’s importance as a strategic base and business area for Syngenta Group in China. The Group will continue to strengthen its presence in Nantong, building a world-class, intelligent plant protection formulation production factory to better support the business needs locally and globally, contributing to Nantong’s high-quality development.

Syngenta Group has already established three plant protection formulation factories and two MAP agricultural technology service centres in Nantong. Several factories have been recognized as National High-tech Enterprises and Green Factory by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Jiangsu Province, and have been selected as ″2023 Leading Enterprise in Green Development″ in Jiangsu Province. 

The area covered by modern agricultural services in Nantong has exceeded 60,000 mu. The company plans to increase the number of MAP centres and covering more service areas.
