Multinational company Corteva unveiled two crop protection releases during the Show Rural 2024 in Brazil, an event covered by AgroPages.

The first highlight is the herbicide, Gapper (Florpirauxifen-benzil), used for controlling weeds in corn and soybean crops. The launch is part of the new herbicide family for corn planting desiccation with the Rinksor active technology, a new class of product with a unique mode of action. According to Corteva, the product is ″unbeatable in controlling Commelina benghalensis and other broadleaf weeds, such as volunteer soybeans (unplanted) and Euphorbia heterophylla.″ The manufacturer said that Gapper works ″without antagonism with grass herbicides and without any planting restrictions for corn.″

Another announcement made during the Show Rural is the launch of the herbicide, Elevore (Halauxifen-methyl), for soybean planting desiccation. The product is formulated with the Arylex Active technology, a new structural class of synthetic auxin herbicides that are effective in managing weeds resistant to other modes of action, such as ALS inhibitor herbicides. According to Corteva, it is an ″excellent tool for the management of waterhemp in post-emergence and other broadleaf weeds and can be applied without antagonism with grass herbicides.″ However, Elevore is still in the registration phase in different Brazilian states.

Sustainable pasture management

At the Show Rural, Corteva also showcased solutions from the Pasture Line that directly contribute to weed management.

The Ultra-S Technology is part of the herbicide family composed of Aminopyralid and 2,4-D and has demonstrated its efficiency in controlling major annual and biennial broadleaf weeds. Moreover, it stands out for being a concentrated solution, allowing for the use of lower herbicide doses per hectare and delivering efficient results.

The XT-S Technology is composed of the active ingredients, Aminopyralid, Picloram and Fluroxypir, in a single solution, offering a broad spectrum of control over annual, biennial and perennial weeds.

″Special attention has been placed on semi-woody and woody plants, ensuring greater grass productivity and, consequently, increased meat and milk production, while avoiding the opening up of new areas and contributing to sustainability by being concentrated,″ Corteva said.
