GreenLight Biosciences (GreenLight Bio), a developer of RNA-based formulations, will give a presentation at the 5th Biopesticides, Biostimulants and Biofertilizers Summit (BioEx 2024)to share their expertise in crop protection products based on RNA interference. GreenLight Bio will talk about:

- Current market demand for RNA biopesticides and future market potential

- Challenges in expanding adoption, such as regulation barriers and production costs

- GreenLight Bio’s experience in R&D and commercialization, and company accomplishments

- Calantha product, including its shelf life, storage conditions, mode of action, efficacy, field stability, application, compatibility in IPM, etc.

- GreenLight Bio’s product launch & promotion plans, collaboration demands and business goals

GreenLight Bio has developed Ledprona, a sprayable double-stranded ribonucleic acid (dsRNA) that targets the Colorado potato beetle (CPB). This dsRNA product kills the pest by suppressing CPB’s gene expression and inhibiting the production of PSMB5 protein, which is essential to keeping the CPB alive.

In May 2023, the US EPA approved field test on Ledprona in 10 states (Idaho, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Virginia, Wisconsin, Washington). And after opening a public comment period for the proposed registration, EPA determined that it had all the information needed to support registration of this novel biopesticide. In December 2023, EPA approved the registration of Ledprona, the world's first sprayable dsRNA biopesticide.

GreenLight Bio’s Calantha™ product, containing Ledprona, has been registered by EPA for the control of CBP. Calantha is the first registration of a foliar-applied product based on RNA under Section Three of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). This marks a milestone for the company, and represents an historic stride forward in diversifying options for farmers and reducing reliance on conventional pesticides.

Calantha is the first GreenLight Bio product to receive regulatory approval, while the company is developing and applying registration for more products targeting other key markets around the world.
