This new position is aimed at capturing new business via the top national distribution companies at home. ″I will be contacting and giving technical presentations at senior and regional management and agronomist levels and promoting the unique and patented flagship technologies from Pangaea as well as the generic products from Farmsaver,″ Andy explains.

Andy Aspinall has extensive experience and knowledge of UK agriculture, in all aspects of growing main crops as well as speciality crops. He has 38 years in the industry working in sales, marketing, technical as well as practical roles. ″I am an experienced sales manager, offering knowledge and motivation as well as having the ability to penetrate new territories and promote new lines. This new position will focus on selling the exciting Pangaea products and the generic ones from Farmsaver in the UK and in Ireland. I am looking forward to working with Pangaea as they are developing patented, innovative products, designed to reduce chemical usage, minimize effects on the environment, and tackle resistance to crop protection products. Pangaea have already made fantastic inroads into many European countries such as Poland, the Baltics and the Czech Republic as well as in Asian sectors. I can now focus on the UK and Ireland specifically so our farmers here can benefit from this technology, too,″ he says.

Pangaea Biosciences Ltd has developed a new optimized and patented primer formulation, Booster ™, utilizing advanced dispersant technologies. Its main use is in situations with resistance problems where it restores efficacy to insecticides suffering from significant field resistance. This patented product inhibits or neutralizes a pest’s defensive enzyme before the pesticide is applied. The primer leaves the pest in a hypersensitive state so that the concentration of the pesticide will kill even the most resistant types. It does this by deactivating the metabolic pathway (Cytochrome P450) in insects, which causes the breakdown of the insecticide.

″The performance of Booster™ in the Czech Republic for the control of pollen beetle in rape was unprecedented in its launch year– achieving a high 20% share and with no problems or referrals.″

″This is exciting when we consider the impact of insect resistance across Europe and the world and what a difference Booster™ could make,″ says Andy.

″We are working on Cabbage Stem Flea beetle in the UK, which is of enormous significance to UK farming, ″says Andy.

″ We are also working on reducing harmful surfactants and replacing them with purely plant-based ingredients in crop protection products. For some chemistry, the level of surfactants is being reduced radically by around 75% and other products are being developed with plant-based surfactants, with no loss of efficacy. These unique formulations with plant-based surfactants have been patented in sixty-five different countries to date and will be reaching the UK soon,″ advises Andy.

What Pangaea is doing is important as we are helping to reduce the environmental impact of arable agriculture, whilst maintaining profitability for farmers. There are exciting times ahead.

Farmsaver is the trading arm for supplying Booster™ and a long list of generic crop protection products to farms within the UK and the EU.
