Annual 5,500-ton bentazone, intermediate project brought on stream

Several days ago, an AgroPages correspondent learned from Xinji Alpha Biotechnology Co., Ltd., that its annual 5,500-ton bentazone and intermediate project has successfully started production.

The pesticide and intermediate project includes an annual production line of 2,000 tons of sulfamide, 1,500 tons of bentazone TC and 2,000 tons of bentazone AS. The project is located within the Xinji High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Hebei Province, costing more than RMB100 million yuan. The project has been granted project registration and a waste discharge permit by the Xinji High-tech Industrial Development Zone Administration, while the product registrations for bentazone TC and AS were also granted under certificate numbers PD20070116 and PD20070123, respectively.

Xinji Alpha Biotechnology Co., Ltd., currently has 208 employees, including 38 professional and technical staff from different disciplines, who make up an innovative and pioneering team. The continuous production process developed by the company, in cooperation with several well-known universities in the provinces of Hebei and Zhejiang, has reached an advanced level in China. The company has invested heavily in establishing a DCS system, which encompasses automated production equipment, modern production workshops and lean production management, having achieved production optimization and scientific plant operations.

With the changes in the market environment, enterprises are facing increased competition pressure. Therefore, constant business expansion has become important to their corporate development approach. To this end, the company planned a newbuild to increase its production capacity of topramezone and cyhalofop-butyl.

Bentazone, under CAS number 25057-89-0, is a heterocyclic selective contact toxicity-based post-emergence herbicide, being also systemic to a certain extent. Bentazone has four major features, which are being safe to use, having a broad herbicidal spectrum, being fast acting and being applicable on a wide range of crops.
