GreatChem’s subsidiary to launch chlorantraniliprole intermediate project

A few days ago, the EIA of Chinese chemical company Hubei Shengkang Chemical Co., Ltd covering 25,458 tons of special new materials was publicized on the local government website. 

The project has an investment of RMB500 million yuan. 

The Phase I includes annual 2,500 tons of 2-Amino-5-Chloro-3-Methylbenzoic acid, 2,000 tons of 3,5-Dimethylbenzoic acid, 5,250 tons of 3-Methyl-2-nitrobenzoic acid, 3,257 tons of 5-Methyl-2-nitrobenzoic acid and 1,472 tons of 3-Methyl-4-nitrobenzoic acid; Phase II includes  5,250 tons of 3-Methyl-2-nitrobenzoic acid, 3,257 tons of 5-Methyl-2-nitrobenzoic acid and 1,472 tons of 3-Methyl-4-nitrobenzoic acid. Among them, the 2-Amino-5-Chloro-3-Methylbenzoic acid is an important intermediate of chlorantraniliprole. 

The project is expected to kick off in December 2023, with a construction period of 34 months. The Phase I is scheduled for completion by July 2025, and the Phase II by October 2026.

Hubei Shengkang Chemical Co., Ltd. is located in Plot B, Yaojiagang Chemical Park, Yichang City, and is a subsidiary of Guangdong GreatChem Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
