Soil DNA analysis technologies and bioinput quality control were the novelties presented by the biotechnology startup GoGenetic at the Andav 2023 Congress, with the presence of AgroPages.
GoGenetic specializes in genetic analysis for agriculture and was a pioneer in creating a molecular detection kit, to be applied directly in the industry, transforming the production process into genetic information.
At the end of last year, it also launched the GoSolos platform, which consists of the genetic sequencing of a small soil sample, which informs the DNA sequences – of bacteria and fungi – found in a given area.
The result is a list with the identity of thousands of microorganisms that are, in some way, interfering with productivity.
″We are very close to the industry, more recently to rural producers, but it is essential that the input distribution channel is part of this journey, which is very promising and a new horizon for business,″ explained Vânia Pankievicz, founder and CEO of GoSolos, the GoGenetic soil analysis platform.
Soon it will be ″practically unfeasible to think about productivity and sustainability without deepening knowledge about soil genetics, control of products and their performance in plants,″ she revealed to AgroPages.
With the central theme ″A Look at the Future″, the twelfth edition of the Andav Congress moved the entire distribution chain of agricultural inputs in Brazil.
GoGenetic is a biotechnology startup born at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) in 2016.
This year was the first time the company exposed its innovative solutions to the sector.
The company is the result of doctoral and postdoctoral theses by scientists who researched how microorganisms interact and benefit plants.
″GoGenetic was able to transform scientific research (paper) into an invoice and benefit national agriculture with precision and technology,″ the entrepreneurs said in conclusion.
Andav (National Association of Distributors of Agricultural and Veterinary Inputs) has been representing the Distributor of Agricultural Inputs for 32 years and currently brings together more than 2,600 companies from all regions of Brazil.
According to the Association, its objective is to take good practices to the countryside and, above all, to ensure the proper functioning of the production chain by extending knowledge, products, services, and technology.
