The Brazilian Grupo Santa Clara first revealed to AgroPages the creation of its new biological pesticide company Inflora Bioscience.
According to Santa Clara, the new company will focus on developing and producing biopesticides for the plant protection market.
Inflora Bioscience was born with more than ten proprietary microorganisms already registered, in addition to seven registrations of products ready for use in the field, which include bionematicides, bioinsecticides, and biofungicides.
″This development was the result of a project that began in 2013, dedicated to the production of bioinsecticides, and which in the last 6 years has received a large investment in research for the development of new technologies for biodefensives,″ Santa Clara said.
In addition to Inflora, the holding operates in the specialty fertilizers segment, through Santa Clara Agrociência, in the provision of industrialization and fertilizer production services with Hydromol and in the production of essential oils with Linax.
With three industrial units located in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, it distributes its products to all Brazilian agricultural regions and abroad.
Grupo Santa Clara informs that it invests over 8% of its gross sales in Research & Development, practically double the sector average.
The area where the new industrial unit of Inflora Bioscience will be installed will also have an Innovation Center and Technological Showcase, with a complete research structure in management, physiology, and plant protection.
The Innovation Center intends to accelerate and increase the creation of new technologies in addition to conducting partnerships with public institutions and training professionals in the area.
The biopesticide market showed an increase of 66% in sales in the last harvest.
This growth reflects the sector's potential, which has continuously increased annually, with rates above 50% per year.
These positive results come from the growing number of registered products and the demand from rural properties, which are looking for technical alternatives which combine high agronomic efficiency, sustainable production, and food security.
Brazil leads the way in the use of biological pesticides, with more than 55% of farmers applying these products to their properties.
″This means that the investment made by Grupo Santa Clara meets a market demand while complementing its portfolio of technologies,″ the Group said.
The Santa Clara Group achieved 31% growth in the last harvest.
As a financial result, it has increased revenue 5 times in the last 6 years.
For 2030, the Group intends to earn BRL 1 billion, 550 million of which is in the biological pesticides unit alone.
The holding has made a series of investments in technology, people, processes, and structure to support this growth. Combined with a good strategic project, it led the group to become a reference in special products for crops in Brazil and throughout the world.
Grupo Santa Clara has been producing and supplying agricultural inputs to Brazil and more than 30 countries for over 26 years.
