Syngenta launches insecticides VERDAVIS, SPONTA in Brazil

Syngenta Crop Protection is strengthening its portfolio of solutions to support large-scale production in the field, with the launch of two insecticides, VERDAVIS^® and SPONTA^®, the first solutions in a revolutionary family of products developed from the PLINAZOLIN^® Technology molecule, an unprecedented chemical group with a new mode of action and has arrived to transform the management of difficult-to-control pests in the country, reinforcing innovation, performance and technological flexibility.

Already registered for major crops, such as soybeans and corn, VERDAVIS^® is an acaricidal insecticide composed of two highly effective actives, PLINAZOLIN^® and Lambda Cyhalothrin, and has multiple characteristics that, in synergy, provide more shock, more spectrum of action and more control days. The product introduces a new shock concept, as in addition to the traditional knock-down effect (pest drop), it immediately paralyzes the pest feeding process. Its composition gives it an extraordinary intrinsic ability to control a wide variety of pests, even the most resistant and difficult ones to control. In addition, it has the characteristics of high persistence, high selectivity for crops, low degradation by UV rays and practically being not washable by rain.

According to Marcos Queiros, Manager of Innovations in Insecticides at Syngenta, the product arrived at a crucial time for the control of pests in soybean and corn crops. "The intensification of the second-crop soy and corn cropping system has brought important implications for current technologies, due to the rise in pressure and number of pests in crops. VERDAVIS^® will transform this dynamic with a new product concept for controlling the main soy and corn pests, achieving a performance never seen before.

″For soy, the product brings a new concept, 'Percevejo Marrom Mais,’ which highlights its excellence in controlling the entire complex of bedbugs (including green bellies) in addition to its effectiveness in combating mites, caterpillars and thrips. In corn, VERDAVIS^® brings the concept, 'Scigarette More,’ due to its extremely high efficiency in controlling leafhoppers, more bedbugs and caterpillars, due to its wide spectrum of action,″ Marcos said.

SPONTA^® is an insecticide designed for cotton cultivation with a highly concentrated modern formulation based on PLINAZOLIN^® Technology, as well as bringing the ″More Weevil″ concept, providing a new level of control against weevils, as well as mites and thrips.

"Among the factors that most reduce the productivity and quality of cotton is boll weevil, the pest responsible for causing significant losses in production, but we also have other important pests, such as mites and thrips. The product is a fence against the main pests of cotton. As it can be applied aerially or terrestrially, SPONTA^® brings convenience to application and operational optimization, due to its low dosage and effectiveness. It is also worth highlighting other essential benefits, such as high selectivity against natural enemies, and it does not cause phytotoxicity for crops,″ Marcos said in conclusion.
