Canaoeste builds biofactory to produce 100,000 liters of bioinputs

Canaoeste (Association of Sugarcane Planters of the West of the State of São Paulo) is building its first factory of natural pesticides to combat sugarcane pests in the interior of the Brazilian state of São Paulo.

The biofactory will have the capacity to produce 100,000 liters of biological products for spraying crops, and the 2,000 associates will be able to buy them at more affordable prices.

Using two strains of entomopathogenic fungi (Metarhizium anisopliae and Beauveria bassiana), the biofactory will produce a microbiological insecticide to initially combat the pests Mahanarva fimbriolata and Sphenophorus levis.

″Our main objective is to present, in fact, this Canaoeste business model, which is exclusive to the associate and makes him the owner of the biofactory, as he is also part of this whole process,″ said the manager of the biofactory from Canaoeste, André Bosch Volpe.

In addition, the agronomist will also explain the association's ability to carry out complete monitoring and control of this technology.

″We want to show the producer that we are here to help him, from monitoring and recommendations, something we have already done, to the ability to deliver a product, follow the application, follow the post-application with monitoring, with assisted technical guidance, etc.,″ he added.

Canaoeste has been operating in the sector for 77 years and serves more than 90 municipalities in the state of São Paulo, with 12 regional offices.

More than 2,000 members total 3,500 properties and 40 production units in more than 120 thousand hectares, totaling seven million tons of sugarcane production in 2022.
