UPL Ltd. was recognized as the largest supplier of foliar insecticides for soybean protection in Brazil in the 2022/2023 crop year, according to a new Kynetec report that AgroPages accessed.
According to Kynetec, UPL inputs were applied to 49.8 million hectares of soybean crops, representing 22% of the market, with a value of US$2.4 billion (or R$11.5 billion).
UPL's Perito 970 SG and Sperto crop protection inputs were particularly successful, representing 11% and 8% of the market, respectively.
New products such as Feroce are also expected to become popular, driven by their effectiveness against brown bugs and soybean mealworms.
Rogério Castro, CEO of UPL Brasil, stated, ″Insecticides are of vital importance for Brazilian agriculture, which faces constant threats from pests due to our predominantly hot and humid climate.″

According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), soy is one of the most important crops in Brazil, with the country producing more than 130 million tons annually.
The Gross Value of Soy Production is estimated at more than R$380 billion ($77.1 billion).
