FMC revealed to AgroPages the launch of its pre-emergent selective herbicide, Reator, formulated with the exclusive active ingredient, Clomazone.
According to the manufacturer, the product can be used with emerged soybeans, as the solution ensures high selectivity and extends the application window for farmers.
In Brazil, the first soybean plantings take place between September and October, when the rains start and the soil is dry in the most productive regions.
These factors limit the management and control of weeds in varied humidity situations.
″This operational flexibility is only possible due to the unique microencapsulated technology of the FMC product, which is an unprecedented formulation of the agricultural science company,″ said Jedir Fiorelli, manager of FMC crops.
FMC’s formulation maintains the gradual release of the active ingredient into the soil and at the right time, ensuring selectivity in crops and the residual control of weeds.
According to Fiorelli, this technology is unique to FMC, and the microcapsule has the correct composition to release the active ingredient by diffusion when the soil has the ideal humidity, making it possible to administer it in various conditions, from dry periods to extreme humidity.
″Low levels of rain and dry soil limit the application of herbicides at the start of planting, but this does not happen with Reator. Furthermore, the FMC product can be applied after soybeans have emerged,″ he added.
The results of research with Reactor during pre-emergence for managing crow's foot grass (Eleusine indica) and bitter grass (Digitaria insularis), weeds that are extremely difficult to control and are resistant to herbicides, showed a control of 99.9%, which is a benchmark for soy.
According to the FMC's crop manager, ″Reator® achieves excellent performance even in soils covered with straw, with greater transposition."
″All these characteristics are present only in the FMC formulation, which offers more flexibility for farmers and apply to any situation in terms of soil moisture or with emerged soybeans. These possibilities avoid crop losses and generate more profits,″ he said.
FMC reported that Reactor is already being sold throughout Brazil.
