At the 19th Copercana agribusiness fair, Albaugh showcased three herbicides, which are Joya (Flumioxazin), Galopeiro (Picloram+2,4-D) and Bitmex (Imazapir).
The biggest news was Bitmex 250 SL, which is still in the registration phase in Brazil and, according to the manufacturer, ″stands out among the products used for sugarcane weeds.″
The product is recommended for use during pre and post-emergence in ratoon cane and plant cane, and produced above-average performance against marmalade grass, crabgrass, silk grass and sedge.
″This is an important expansion of Albaugh's broad portfolio focused on the Brazilian sugar-energy sector,″ the company said.
With regards to the new herbicides, the company added that Galopeiro is an alternative for the management of weeds.
According to the company, research has proven the product's effectiveness against invasive morning glory and castor bean, as well as others that are difficult to control.
The herbicide, Joya, is recommended for use on plant cane, ratoon cane, semi-dry ratoon, dry ratoon, and semi-wet and wet ratoon.
The company noted that the treatment based on Joya's technology delivers a pre-emergence effect with a long residual action, going beyond the straw or ″raises the straw,″ and can be carried out throughout the entire harvest in the Center-South and the North East.
The herbicide is mainly focused for controlling challenging weeds, such as crabgrass, morning glory and kingfisher.
The company also showcased the insecticide, Porcel (Piriproxifem), a technology that has gained a reputation as a leader in controlling sugarcane root spittlebug (Marhanarva fimbriolata).
According to Albaugh, this insecticide is increasingly being adopted by sugarcane producers, mainly due to its observed effectiveness in controlling 'spittlebug' eggs and nymphs.
Specialists estimate that this overly complex insect pest has the potential to reduce crop productivity by 15% to 80%, and the quality of raw materials by around 30%.
″Investments in recent years in the research, production and distribution of solutions for sugarcane have made Albaugh a leader among established companies that supply relevant agrochemicals,″ the company explained.
″Albaugh currently holds one of the most robust portfolios of technologies aimed at the Brazilian sugar-energy sector,″ it added.
Copercana 2023 is held in the Brazilian state of São Paulo and brings together leading brands and technologies from the sugar-energy sector, with special coverage this year by AgroPages.
