BASF presented its solutions for comprehensive pest management in fruit production at two industry events held in Argentina: the 1st at the National Plum Industry Forum and the 2nd at the National Peach Forum.
The highlight was the presentation of Rak 20, which is based on specific pheromones for the control of Cydia Molesta, suitable for organic crops.
″The production of fruits and vegetables is very important in Argentina, and thinking about the producers’ needs, we developed our Rak System, based on the use of pheromones, which collaborates to manage increasingly productive and sustainable crops,″ said Fernando Cardello, Senior Research and Development Manager at BASF for Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia.
Rak 20 has specific pheromones for the ″sexual confusion technique″, indicated for organic crops.
Also, Elenquo, a nematicide based on a natural extract obtained from the bark and wood of Quillay (Quillaja Saponaria), was launched in the Biosolutions segment.
In this first phase, the bionematicide will be available for vines and tomatoes, while BASF has already requested its registration for other crops.
″Biological solutions are fundamental tools to improve the efficiency of control programs, manage resistance and contribute to sustainable management of resources over time, with the premise of meeting the needs of increasingly demanding consumers,″ explained Rubén Mancifesta, Commercial Manager for Fruits and Vegetables at BASF.

Among them are Bellis (strobilurin + carboxamide), a broad-spectrum fungicide that acts on the main diseases that attack grapevines, fruit trees, and vegetables, and Vivando (metrafenone), a fungicide with a differentiated mode of action for preventive and curative control. powdery mildew on peach and grapevines, ideal for rotations in anti-resistance programs.
