BASF launches adjuvant that increases effectiveness of fungicides in Brazil

BASF announced, to AgroPages, the launch of its tank-mix adjuvant, Agnique HP 450, which increases the effectiveness of fungicides and increases production.

According to a study carried out by BASF, the new adjuvant is biodegradable and plant-based, ensuring increased production.

According to the manufacturer, Agnique HP 450 proved its performance in field tests carried out in the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso and São Paulo on crops that received an application of commercial fungicide based on strobilurin and triazole to control Asian rust.

On average across the three sites, there was an 8% increase in protection effectiveness and a 14% increase in harvest production.

″This is a very important outcome, because improving crop production without harming the environment are important objectives for adjuvants,″ said André Karadi, analyst at BASF's formulators business.

An adjuvant is a ready-to-use solution added to the active components of the formulation, to optimize the application of crop protection products. Agnique^® HP 450 is a tank-mix type added to the spray liquid in tanks before application.

″It increases the speed of propagation and penetration of the active ingredient through the cuticle, allowing, in most cases, for the control of the disease with lower doses of the defensive, and reducing the effects of light degradation,″ Karadi added.

The solution is based on soy methyl ester and can also be used with herbicides and insecticides to protect crops without harming the environment, he added.

According to BASF, its composition does not interfere with plant growth, is free of ethoxylated nonylphenol, a substance that may pose health and environmental risks, and does not contain mineral oil, meeting sustainability requirements.
