BASF delivers new pulse solution for western Canadian growers to manage tough diseases

BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions (BASF) is providing a new standard for disease management in pulses for western Canadian growers with the launch of a new fungicide, RevyPro™.

RevyPro received registration in Canada this spring after years of development. Reports of resistance in pulse crops beginning in 2019 caused a pivot in BASF’s approach to the in-progress development of a fungicide to help pulse growers in Western Canada address their most pressing challenges.

″Our goal in the development of RevyPro was to create a product that would provide efficacy, whether resistance is present or not, to equip western Canadian growers with an enhanced solution to address the challenges they face,″ says Bethany Wyatt, Technical Marketing Specialist – Fungicides at BASF.

The first Canadian Revysol^®-based pulse fungicide, RevyPro provides consistent performance on early and late western Canadian pulse diseases, including resistant strains. Using the active ingredient Mefentrifluconazole, Revysol’s unique FRAC Group 3 mode of action allows it to bind to the target site—the pathogen—more powerfully than conventional triazole fungicides.

This solution was developed specifically for this market, at BASF research farms, and has proven performance on major pulse diseases regardless of a pathogen’s resistance status,″ says Sylvain Mialon, Brand Manager, Fungicides, Cereals & Pulses at BASF.

BASF’s longstanding partnership with the Crop Development Center (CDC) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan underscores the company's commitment to Canadian pulse growers. A portion of sales has been invested into the CDC’s programs, totaling more than $14 million since the partnership began.
