Chinese agrochemical company Limin Co, Ltd announced on May 9 that an annual 10,000-ton L-glufosinate project to be launched by the company’s wholly owned subsidiary Hebei Veyong Biochemical has been put on the local government agenda for approval.
According to the announcement, to further consolidate and strengthen the company’s product advantage, enhance the company’s core competitiveness and expand the existing superior varieties, Veyong Biochemical is planning an investment of RMB330 million yuan on newbuild of an annual 10,000-ton L-glufosinate plant, in line with the development strategy of Limin Co., Ltd. Upon completion, the plant will establish an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons of L-glufosinate.
Earlier, on June 14, 2022, Veyong Biochemical, the subsidiary of Limin Co., Ltd, entered into a technology transfer agreement with the research team of the Institute of Bioengineering of Zhejiang University of Technology for industrialized production of L-glufosinate via the biological enzyme method. The technology utilizes synthetic biology and enzymatic catalysis to make high-efficient catalytic enzyme, which can efficiently convert D-glufosinate into L-glufosinate of high optical purity, thus linking the gas phase continuous chemical synthesis with biosynthesis. The process is a green and efficient process, which is aligned with the company’s glufosinate technical production process, with good specificity and high degree of technical compatibility. The introduction of the technology is a reinforcement of Limin’s ″biology + chemistry″ technical strength, which will play a solid foundation for the company’s glufosinate and L-glufosinate industry development at present time.
