On April 25, Chinese agrochemical company Cynda announced launch of its annual 5,000-ton clethodim technical project in Boxing County Economic Development Zone, at an estimated total investment of RMB65.60 million yuan, which aims to meet the strategic development need of the company, covering production of clethodim technical and mother liquor.

Cynda says that while the company’s marketing channel is expanded the sale of clethodim technical has increased year after year, having become one of the company’s prime products. In order to further optimize a region-wise production layout and meet the future development need, the company has planned newbuild of the clethodim technical plant in the company’s headquarter premises, with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons. Upon completion, the plant will reinforce the company’s clethodim capacity status, which will be an improvement to the product competitiveness of the company.

Clethodim is a cyclohexenone herbicide, which is mainly used in rapeseed, cotton and peanut broad-leaf crop fields for control of grassy weeds such as wild oat, crab grass, green bristlegrass and goosegrass. In recent years, the emerging glyphosate-resistant grassy weeds in soybean fields has provided clethodim with chances of application to a wider range of crops. Clethodim has the advantages of safety, low residue, high efficiency and low toxicity, thus having become an emerging post-seedling herbicide for use in dry fields, thanks to its satisfactory selectivity and great potentials of growth. Clethodim enjoys a good reputation among farmers, with a highest market share among the cyclohexenone herbicides.
