China’s pesticide imports have reached to $ 444 million in 2010, upped by 23.2% year on year and the volume has grown by 15.2% to 45,000 tons.
Herbicide was the largest category of imported pesticide, volume and value for the category were 21,900 tons and $136 million, grown by 15.6% and 12.1% respectively. For the import of insecticide, volume and value were 12,000 tons and $172 million, each grown by 10.1% and 24.2%. Fungicide was the least imported category while posted the largest growth, 11,100 tons of $129 million of the products was imported, increased by 20.7% and 33.4%.
Glyphosate was most produced and sold by China, with 10,880 tons of $34 million import, the herbicide became the largest imported pesticide in volume term. From the view of value, chlorantraniliprole was the most imported pesticide, 719 tons of the insecticide which value at $40.9 million was imported by China last year.
