Guangxi Weixun to build annual 2,500-ton cyhalofop-butyl pesticide production facility inclusive of intermediates

On January 11, Baise Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment made public the environmental impact assessment for a project covering production of novel herbicides, antibacterial agents and intermediates, as filed for by Guangxi Weixun Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

As most of the imported agrochemicals and key materials are under control of multinational companies, prices are at a high side. With the intensification of international trade frictions and the increases in import and export tariffs, the high-cost pressure becomes more obvious on the Chinese agriculture and agrochemical industry chain. Therefore, it is urgent to improve the industry chain of key raw materials to form a scale up production pattern and to enhance the competitiveness of the Chinese agrochemical industry. To this end, Guangxi Weixun Biotechnology Co., Ltd has planned newbuild of a novel herbicide, antibacterial agent and intermediate plant, which is located within Guangxi Tiandong Petrochemical Industrial Park.

The total investment of the project is envisaged to be RMB355 million, which is divided into three phases for implementation. Phase I: Annual 500-ton clodinafop-propargyl, 2,500-ton cyhalofop-butyl, 500-ton 5-Chloro-2-fluoropyridine and 1,000-ton 3,4-Difluorobenzonitrile; Phase II: 300-ton 2,2-Difluoro-1,3-benzodioxole, 200-ton fludioxonil, 250-ton fenoxaprop-P-ethyl and 250-ton metamifop; Phase III: 1,000-tons fluorobenzoyl chloride, 1,500-ton 3,4-Dichlorobenzonitrle, 750-ton 2,3,5-Trichloropyridine, 1,000-ton fluorobenzene, 1,000-ton fluorotoluene, 2,500-ton (R)-2-(4-Hydrobenzoxy)propionic acid, 250-ton methyl (R)-2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)propionate and 500-ton oxybenzone,2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzo phenone series.

Guangxi Weixun Biotechnology Co., Ltd was established on March 30 of 2020 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Weixun Chemical (Nanjing) Co., Ltd.
