Argentine agchem supplies cut off

The Argentine supply chain for pesticides and seeds “is completely cut off”, according to reports in the national press. A dispute between the government and farmers following the imposition of higher soybean export taxes has hit trade, the national daily, Clarin, and the business daily, Ambito Financiero, say. The face-off has included road blocks and lengthy strikes. Pesticide and other input suppliers depend on national production for 80% of supplies, Carlos Calvo of the agrochemical company, Red Surcos, reportedly says. “Until there is an end to the dispute, supplies will not be reactivated.”
