ADAMA Brasil exclusively announced to AgroPages the launch of the herbicide Mayoral, which the manufacturer classified as ″innovative in the rice crop″.

″With a high level of control of red rice and the main invaders of the crop, the new solution brings ease of application and high efficiency in post-emergence of grasses and broadleaves,″ ADAMA said.

According to the manufacturer, the product has ″an exclusive liquid formulation that combines two active ingredients, bringing ease of application to the producer and dispensing the mixture in a tank.″

With a high level of control, the Mayoral herbicide fights narrow-leaved and broad-leaved weeds, contributing to increased rice productivity and quality, ADAMA explained.

Weeds are responsible for losses of up to 90% and are one of the main problems in the rice crop faced by producers in Rio Grande do Sul, a state responsible for 70% of rice produced in Brazil.

″In addition to being a limiting factor in productivity, invasive plants also impair the quality of the cereal, as they compete for nutrients, water, and light, and, in addition, end up being hosts for diseases and pests,″ said João Ibelli, Portfolio Manager - Herbicides of ADAMA.

The problem is a major obstacle for rice plantations and therefore requires effective control.

″Mayoral arrives to meet a demand from the producer, who wants new technologies as the current products are losing efficiency because of resistance due to the increase in dose in tank mixes,″ Ibelli said in conclusion.

The launch expands ADAMA's rice cultivation portfolio, including several herbicide solutions.

Mayoral is yet another of ADAMA's innovations, which has formulation as one of the company's five strategic business pillars, with an exclusive combination of actives, resulting in a unique solution on the market. It is easy to handle and apply and mainly contributes to the sustainability of crops.

″Due to the balance between its assets, the product represents a significant reduction in the use of packaging compared to mixing products in a tank, which means less storage and disposal volume and, consequently, less use of water to carry out the triple wash,″ Ibelli stated.
