LongPing High-Tech, a maize hybrid giant, has begun selling sorghum seeds in the national market. Considered as one of the most produced cereals in the world, the crop has been gaining prominence in Brazil, especially during the off-season. According to projections by the National Supply Company (Conab), an increase of more than 35% in grain production is expected during the 2021/2022 harvest compared to the previous harvest, exceeding 2.8 million tons.
Known for its easy adaptation and high productivity, sorghum is used for animal feed supplies during the dry months. It is resistant to water stress and has good foliar health, with excellent performance in off-season planting. The new crop will be marketed under the Morgan and Forseed brands.
At Morgan, the medium-sized MG2220 hybrid has been added to the brand’s portfolio, serving the high and medium investment markets, where the innovation is already known by producers. With excellent health and productive stability, the seed is responsive to advances in technology and ideal for integration with mid-to-late cycle hybrids, allowing for staggered planting and harvesting, in addition to having tolerance to tipping, allowing for safe harvests.
″Morgan, as a vice leader in the off-season corn market, is offering the best product to Brazilian farmers. And with sorghum it will be no different, we will continue offering exclusive solutions and high productivity hybrids to rural producers,″ said Ana Nascimento (National Marketing Manager at Morgan).
In Forseed's portfolio, the FS66SG hybrid highlights the brand’s expertise in combining technology with needs, ensuring stability and a high production potential in all environments and different regions, as well as good foliar health and resistance to tipping. It is a safe hybrid that is also responsive to management technologies.
″Sorghum is a crop that is beginning to be more valued by Brazilian farmers. Forseed offers a wide portfolio of solutions and now offers another opportunity for rural producers to improve their crops and increase their product profitability, based on research and genetic improvements,″ said Fabiano Romero (National Marketing Manager of Forseed).
Licensing
In order to share its portfolio with other companies, LongPing High-Tech will launch the Sorghum Licensing Program, which will be an opportunity for representatives and resellers to market products that have the excellent quality of LongPing High-Tech’s germplasm. Therefore, licensees will have access to an exclusive portfolio, annual access to sorghum hybrids, and a minimum volume with a business projection for five years per licensed product.
