US cancellation order for sulfuramid

The US EPA has issued a cancellation order for the termiticide, sulfuramid. DuPont requested the cancellation of the last remaining manufacturing use registration in December 2007. DuPont no longer has any stocks of the active ingredient, but end-use registrants can continue to formulate ai stocks in their possession until December 31st 2012. The EPA scheduled sulfuramid for a registration review this year. The ai has been subject to a phase-out agreement since 2001 due to health concerns over the sulfuramid degradation product, perfluorooctyl sulfonate.
