BASF announces innovative partnership with NaanDanJain to promote sustainable management in Brazilian agriculture

BASF has announced an innovative partnership with NaanDanJain, one of the largest companies in the field of irrigation technologies in the world.

The initiative, a pioneer in the market, is another step towards BASF's commitment to more sustainable agriculture, supporting producers in accessing new technologies that enable greater resilience in a scenario of volatile weather conditions. The partnership with NaanDanJain benefits critical farming systems in the Cerrados region of Brazil, contributing to the sustainability of agricultural production.

Combining BASF's portfolio solutions, which feature crop protection, seeds and digital tools, with NaanDanJain's innovative irrigation technologies, is expected to deliver profitable and sustainable growth for the farmer. The perspective is that it will benefit from a more conscious use of water, optimizing water resources, nutrients and inputs, reaching the most significant potential for productivity and land use with a reduction of water per ton produced. At the same time, it will use innovative solutions for the correct management of crops, contributing to the quality and longevity of agricultural production.

The partnership with NaanDanJain is one of BASF's strategic actions towards more sustainable agriculture, stated Sergi Vizoso, Senior Vice President of Agricultural Solutions at BASF for Latin America. ″Our commitment is always to be close to the farmer, understanding the challenges of production and proposing solutions that benefit the entire chain and society. From this initiative, we take a step towards an increasingly comprehensive action on crops and continue to seek the ideal balance in food production," he pointed out.

Vizoso also highlighted the importance of developing an ecosystem of alliances and partnerships. "We believe that they represent a chance to speed up the introduction of innovations in the field and to generate value for the farmer, society and partners," he declared.

For Antonio Alfredo Teixeira Mendes, General Director of NaanDanJain Brazil, ″The partnership with BASF promotes innovative solutions in the field and is perfectly aligned with the company's strategic positioning and the primary objective of adding value to the farmer's production process, enabling the full return economic-financial impact of the investment made in sustainable irrigated agriculture, and thus transforming farmers into successful entrepreneurs through the concept of ″Commitment to the Result″.

To feed an estimated population of approximately 10 billion people by 2050, experts believe that farmers will have to produce virtually the same amount of food consumed throughout human history. ″This panorama, added to the finitude of our water resources, needs to be taken into account. So, it is with this mission that we started the project alongside NaanDanJain. We understand that it is a direct way to test new sustainable and innovative solutions in agriculture," Vizoso concluded.
