ADAMA presented its newest launch in Brazil, the herbicide, Jumbo (Sulfentrazone + Tebuthiuron), which biologically targets grasses and broad leaves that affect sugarcane crops.

The announcement was made during the event, Coopercitrus Expo 2022, which took place in the Brazilian state of São Paulo at the end of July.

Estevão Bernardes (Regional Marketing Manager at ADAMA) said, ″Jumbo will help growers in the management of weeds, which need to be effectively controlled in sugarcane fields to maximize productive potential.″

″The herbicide has active ingredients that achieve more efficiency in the management of weeds, while offering flexibility, safety and economy for farmers,″ he added.

The solution also has characteristics that contribute to the sustainability of sugarcane cultivation. As it is a complete solution, it can also significantly reduce the need for packaging by about 62% compared to mixing in a tank.

As part of ADAMA's Bom de Cana program, which was launched in 2020 and focuses on the technical strengthening and valorization of sugarcane plantations and the entire sugar-energy chain, recommendations, such as ExpertGrow, a technology aimed at plant biostimulation and a reference in sugarcane cultivation, have been launched for sugar.

ExpertGrow promotes plant resistance to abiotic stresses, such as extreme temperatures, low light and water deficit.

The nematicide, Legado (Fluensulfone), was also showcased at the event and is part of the program.

ADAMA is showcasing the product due to its ″high performance in controlling major nematode species that reduce the productivity of sugarcane fields.″

According to the manufacturer, the nematicide is fully compatible with herbicides, creating flexibility in the management of sugarcane plants.

In addition, they also claim that it has ″a low toxicological profile and is selective for several beneficial soil microorganisms.″

According to data from the National Supply Company (Conab), Brazil is the world's largest producer of sugarcane, accounting for the production of 585.2 million tons during the 2021/22 harvest.

″To achieve this high productivity, it is also necessary to focus when managing a sugarcane field. Many producers choose to plant another crop in the rotation, such as soybeans, so conducting the correct management and using innovative solutions is essential to making the producer's life easier and bringing productivity in the field and his daily life,″ Bernardes said in conclusion.
