2022latin.jpgEmbrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation), in partnership with the Brazilian biological and natural company Biotrop, recently released the book titled ″Bioinputs in Soybean Crop″.

The publication compiles technical knowledge on biopesticides, biostimulants, bioregulators, biological control agents, bioprotectors, biofertilizers, and inoculants, as well as processes and technologies in the context of sustainable production.

It is a book designed as a source of consultation for farmers, undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, professors, and consultants.

According to Juliano Cesar da Silva, manager of regulatory affairs at Biotrop and editor of the publication, there are several challenges to the full adoption of bioinputs, which are discussed in a specific chapter of the book.

″One of the points addressed is the prospection and development of new biological products to meet the demand of agricultural crops. In addition, the importance of formulation is also highlighted, aiming to facilitate the use of solutions, and provide shelf stability adjusted to the realities of the field. Both aspects have the attention of industries such as Biotrop,″ he highlighted.

Another critical point is the bioinput application technology, which, when performed correctly, enhances the success of biological control. ″In this way, advances in application technology, as well as the development of new equipment and adjustments in application modalities, should be encouraged,″ Silva pointed out.

Compatibility is another topic that has gained prominence. Considering that in many cases the products are composed of live microorganisms, studies of the relationship between different technologies and formulations are necessary for the correct use, aiming to obtain the maximum benefit from the bioinput.

For the Biotrop professional, understanding the importance of using bioinputs in the soybean production system, that is, throughout the seasons, is essential. This understanding makes the farmer understand each tool at his disposal for managing pests, diseases, plant nutrition, reduction of biotic and abiotic stresses, etc. In this way, the use of biological agents with their specific actions, and applications in the different cultures of the production system, associated with their rotation, allows for reducing factors that compromise the productive potential of the crop.

The publication ″Bioinsumos na Cultura da Soja″ has 538 pages and was produced by the editors Maurício Conrado Meyer (Embrapa Soja), Adeney de Freitas Bueno (Embrapa Soja), Sérgio Miguel Mazaro (Federal Technological University of Paraná) and Juliano Cesar da Silva (Biotrop).

The book was structured in five themes: Scenario, challenge, and innovations of bioinputs in the soybean crop; Application technologies; Applications – rhizosphere/soil health; Applications – weed and disease management; and Applications – pest management. The book has digital and printed versions with free open access and can be downloaded from the website www.biotrop.com.br.
