Strong performance of the imported paddy insecticides in China

The multinationals are sharing larger market shares in China paddy insecticide market due to more and more consumption of imported products by Chinese growers. By the year of 2010, 30% of the paddy insecticide products in China were from the multinationals, in some provinces such as Jiangsu and Zhejiang, 60% of the planted area was treated with the overseas products.

The flubendiamide and Virtako have dominated in Hubei and Hunan, while the ethiprole, imidacloprid and Daoteng from Bayer have enjoyed good sales in Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang and Shanghai.
As toxic and risky products such as methamidophos and fipronil been eliminated from the markets and changing pest species such as striped stem borer, yellow stem borer, brown rice planthopper, small brown rice planthopper as well as resistance problems, while the Chinese producers are less capable of introducing high cost-effective producers to growers for some time, thus the imported insecticides are enjoying larger popularity by Chinese consumers.
