Bahia Farm Show 2022 – Technology combines genetics, weed management, and caterpillar control

Corteva Agriscience's big bet at Bahia Farm Show 2022 is the Enlist System, qualified as one of the most awaited technologies in agribusiness.

According to the multinational, it is a new biotechnology option for soybean seeds that combines high-performance genetics with better weed and caterpillar management.

This year's edition of the Bahia Farm Show is being held this week in the city of Luís Eduardo Magalhães, in the Brazilian state of Bahia. The event is among the largest in Brazil in terms of business volume, focusing on technology, innovation, and opportunities.

The Enlist System, explains Corteva, is formed by the pillars of Seeds and Biotechnology, Herbicides, and High-Performance Genetics and supported by the pillar of Good Agricultural Practices. According to the manufacturer, the main benefits are diversity, convenience, flexibility, and greater control in the application.

Enlist E3 seeds are tolerant to the herbicide Enlist Colex-D (new 2,4-D choline salt), glyphosate, and glufosinate-ammonium. The Conkesta E3 seeds, in addition to tolerance to the three herbicides, also bring two Bt proteins (Cry1F and Cry1Ac) for the management of the main caterpillars in the soybean crop.

During the event, Corteva presented its licensed seeds and its brands with the herbicide platform, composed of the products Enlist Colex-D and Enlist Duo Colex-D (ready mix of 2,4-D choline salt + glyphosate dimethylamine salt), which can be applied pre-and post-emergence of soybeans and offer excellent effectiveness in controlling weeds, in addition to reducing the potential for drift that can reach up to 90%, ultra-low volatility, and odor reduction.

“Enlist Colex-D and Enlist Duo Colex-D are the only 2,4-D-based herbicides registered and recommended for post-emergence use on Enlist soybeans. We will have a dedicated space for specialists to present the Enlist System, its benefits, and the varieties launched this season,” Corteva said.

Another important highlight of Corteva at the Bahia Farm Show is the Pioneer brand, which completes 50 years in Brazil in 2022 as a great partner for farmers. It remains the leader for the 16th consecutive year in the summer and off-season corn seed market in the country.

The brand innovates once again and presents the Optimum AQUAmax technology, unprecedented in Brazil and with greater tolerance to water stress, contributing to the evolution of this market. The products underwent the most advanced techniques of genetic improvement to provide maximum productivity even under adverse conditions in a research process conducted over the last ten years in Brazil and over 40 years in the world. Another Pioneer novelty is the soybean cultivar with Conkesta E3 biotechnology.

Brevant Seeds will also be at the event with its complete portfolio of soybean, sorghum, and corn seeds. In addition, the brand presents its cultivar with Conkesta E3 biotechnology, tailored to the Brazilian farmer, with high-performance genetics, high productive potential, and excellent health.

In the Crop Protection area, Corteva presents the fungicides Viovan (Picoxystrobin + Prothioconazole), Aproach Power (Picoxystrobin + Cyproconazole), both launches, and the herbicide Paxeo (Diclosulam + Halauxifen-methyl), a brand innovation, and the insecticide Expedition ( Sulfoxaflor + Lambda-cyhalothrin).

In addition, the multinational announced launches in the portfolio of biological pesticides, such as Omsugo P (Bacillus subtilis + Bacillus megaterium), Inlayon (Bacillus amylofiquefaciens isolated SIMBI BS 10), and the nematicide Lumialza (Bacillus amylofiquefaciens), which represent Corteva's entry into this new segment and will complement the company's portfolio for the soybean, corn and cotton markets.
