Komet Irrigation has introduced a new precision regulator representing the latest evolution in sprinkler system pressure regulator technology.
The Kamet Precision Regulator (KPR-X) features a new axial design with flow deviation fins and a large inlet chamber that evenly direct water to the center of the device. Together, these components prevent premature one-sided wear from unevenly applied flow forces, resulting in longer service life.
The unique, patented design of the KPR-X also promotes unimpeded water flow and significantly reduces plugging through an optimal plunger diameter and innovative self-cleaning mechanism. These features release water, sand and other fine debris at shutdown.
"Throughout the development of the KPR-X, our engineers focused on the most common pivot regulator challenges growers encounter in the field. This resulted in an industry-leading inlet design and self-flushing capability to reduce pressure losses, increase plugging resistance and ensure long-lasting performance," says Josh Mosier, general manager and technical sales director of Komet Irrigation Corp., USA & Canada.
Another key feature of the KPR-X includes a progressive dampening system within the diaphragm chamber engineered to minimize friction and ensure low hysteresis for continuously smooth operation.
The dampening system contributes to the reliable and durable performance of the KPR-X, protecting the regulator and other downstream-installed devices effectively against water hammers while limiting pressure fluctuations.
"Sprinkler design is critical to getting the most out of a center pivot irrigation system investment, and pressure regulators are key in controlling sprinkler uniformity," says Mosier. "The core purpose of an adjustable pressure regulator is to maintain a constant outlet pressure while handling varying inlet pressures reliably over many growing seasons, and that's exactly what we've developed with the KPR-X."
"The KPR-X is a true all-flow regulator, giving growers the advantage of a streamlined product for the entire pivot nozzle range," he adds. "Each critical component was subjected to meticulous quality controls and tested in a variety of field environments to prove the KPR-X's ability to withstand the factors that cause pressure variations and contribute to wear."
The KPR-X is available in four models ranging from 6 to 20 psi and was built for installation on drops or on top of the pipe in mechanized systems.
