Certis Europe has been granted a patent on the production methodology of the predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii, used for biological control of thrips and whitefly, using the prey mite, Suidasia medanensis. The patent was granted by the European Patent Office in May 2011. A. swirskii is mainly used in pepper and cucumber crops but its potential is also being increasingly realized in cut flowers and ornamentals. The ability of swirskii to become very rapidly established and suppress pest populations sets it apart from other beneficial organisms.
This development offers
Certis Europe the strategic advantage of establishing new licensing and supply partnerships for
Certis swirskii.
