Sumitomo Chemical Agro Europe reported, in October 2021, the herbicide active ingredient, flumioxazin, has received approval from the SCopaff for a 15-year renewal in Europe.
The renewal has already been published and will be valid until February 2037.
“We are delighted with this renewal, which provides us with new opportunities to further develop flumioxazin and continue offering farmers a sustainable solution in their soil and weed management programs,” stated Sumitomo Chemical Agro Europe.
Flumioxazin is a residual herbicide used as a pre-emergence or early post-emergence herbicide, with a broad spectrum of action.
Flumioxazin belongs to the chemical family, N-phenylphthalimides, which has a mode of action that inhibits protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO), classified by the HRAC as group E. Its renewal will offer farmers a consistent tool for their appropriate resistance management programs.
The active ingredient, flumioxazin, is authorized for use on a wide range of crops depending on the country. Kenogard, as a subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical Agro Europe, markets flumioxazin-based products in Spain under the PLEDGE® brand, which are authorized for use on vineyards and table grapes, olive groves and railways.
