Researchers from the Department of Entomology of China Agricultural University and National Agrotechnical Extension and Service Center recently, collected Spodoptera frugiperda from a corn field, which are fed and raised indoor for 5 to 7 continuous generations without contacting with any insecticides.
A sensitivity test of seven kinds of common insecticides (emamectin benzoate, spinetoram, chlorfenapyr, indoxacarb, tetrachlorantraniliprole, lufenuron and chlorantraniliprole) was conducted on the 3rd instar larva and 2nd instar larva of Spodoptera frugiperda, based on which the relative sensitivity baselines of Spodoptera frugiperda larvae to the seven kinds of insecticides was established.
According to the researchers, the establishment of the relative sensitivity baseline of Spodoptera frugiperda larvae to the major insecticides, via three bioassay methods, will provide a good basis for the resistance monitor and chemical control of Spodoptera frugiperda in China.
