The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) opened a Public Consultation on the proposal to regulate the registration of agrochemicals.
The objective is to streamline the offer of new technologies, as Brazil faces high demand and problems in the supply of products.
The Department of Plant Health and Agricultural Inputs of the Secretariat of Agricultural Defense, will define the main pests and the chemical alternatives necessary for adequate control. In addition, there will be ten target pests, which will be listed in numerical order according to established priority.
At the end of November 2021, Ordinance No. 451 was published in the Official Gazette of the Union, which submits this proposal for public consultation. At the end of the 30 days, a list of priorities that will receive the greatest urgency in approving the registration will be formed.
The ordinance states that applicants for registration processes for pesticides already filed may, within 30 days of the publication of the ordinance, apply up to 20 processes for priority in selection.
Companies must agree to public disclosure of the registration application in the prioritized process. "Each formulated product prioritized automatically will prioritize at most 1 (one) technical product for each active ingredient contained in its formulation," the ordinance established.
“When the selected prioritized formulated product contains more than one technical product per active ingredient, the applicant company must indicate to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply which technical product it wishes to prioritize. A maximum of 30 formulated products will be selected for prioritization,” the document stated in conclusion.
