Crystal Crop Protection completes acquisition of Cotton, Mustard, Pearl Millet and Grain Sorghum hybrids from Bayer in India

Crystal Crop Protection Ltd, a leading R&D-focused crop solutions company, has completed the acquisition of seeds business of Bayer in India, comprising Cotton, Mustard, Pearl Millet and Grain Sorghum hybrids. With this acquisition, the company is expected to be among leading companies in these selected crops.

This acquisition comes with prestigious brands Proagro & Surpass, associated breeding programs, talented team of incredible knowhow, technology, IP, research farms and strong pipeline of products that will put Crystal in a fast growth trajectory in Seed Business by expanding its grower base.

Commenting on the acquisition, Mr. Ankur Aggarwal, Managing Director, Crystal Crop Protection Limited says, "We have completed the transaction ahead of target date and now Crystal team will take over the business. Mustard, Pearl Millet and Cotton hybrids are strong brands, preferred by farmers. This acquisition will strengthen our field crop seed business and make us a strong integrated Agri- Input player. We expect this business to contribute 10% of annual turnover.”

This is Crystal’s third acquisition in seed space since 2011 when it acquired Hyderabad based Rohini-Seeds Private Limited and Rohini Bioseeds & Agritech Private Limited, and acquisition of Syngenta’s Indian Grain Sorghum, Fodder Sorghum(SSG) and Pearl Millet seeds business in 2018.
