BASF has introduced the fungicide Revysol® in the Spanish market, the first isopropanol-azole to reach crops in the country.
Its registration in Europe means making a very powerful tool available to farmers to control the main fungal diseases affecting their crops, including the most aggressive and resistant ones, and optimize the management of their farms.
With this new active ingredient, BASF offers farmers healthy and disease-free crops that are affective much longer.
Farmers face many challenges in keeping their farms profitable. There are many factors that they cannot control and that conditions the value of their crops. One of these factors, which particularly affects its yield and quality, are diseases, which appear very early in the development of the crop. They are more difficult to control with the available tools, requiring integrated management strategies.
“Today, more than ever, farmers are looking for innovative and sustainable tools to improve the management of their work. Revysol® allows them to manage their exploitation more efficiently, minimizing risks and problems related to the weather. Revysol® also allows farmers to obtain better harvests, which maximizes the profitability of its cultivation,” explained Konstantin Kretschun, head of BASF's Agricultural Solutions Division in Spain.
Since 2019, BASF has launched several Revysol® -based products in different European countries, starting with those with registered use in cereal. “We are delighted to be able to join this revolution from Spain. We will start the 2022 campaign with the launch and commercialization of Revycare®, a fungicide that adds to the benefits provided by Revysol® and F500®.
This well-known BASF active ingredient produces positive physiological effects on plants (AgCelence® effects) such as greater vigor, higher specific gravity of the grain and, ultimately, better and higher production,” Kretschun continued. “In 2023, Revysol®'s will be used on fruit trees and vineyards, followed by horticultural crops in subsequent years.”
Sustainable Agriculture
To develop Revysol®, BASF has combined the knowledge of its experts on fungicides and sustainability to achieve maximum efficiency while, at the same time, meeting the most demanding regulatory requirements. "BASF considers it essential to incorporate this new methodology in the development of new solutions, to guarantee the market supply of tools for sustainable agriculture now and in the future," Kretschun said.
