Diego Gandulfo, Marketing Director of UPL Argentina, has said that the world market for bio-solutions could grow to US$10 billion in the next four years.

The data was provided during an event where the company of Indian origin presented its novelties for this campaign.

According to Gandulfo, the market for bio-inputs (whose manufacturing is based micro and macro-organisms) grew three times faster than that for crop protection, “and this responds to the growing demand for more sustainable food systems.”

“There is a demand not only by producers but also at the social level, to increasingly include more of these products in all proposals or strategies for use in different crops, not only soybeans but also in the great diversity of crops that Argentina has,” he said.

Although Gandulfo assured that they still do not have an official figure to communicate about the local situation, he specified, “If you look at the large segments of use of bio-solutions in the Argentine market, it is clear that they are also growing.”

“From the point of view of food production and crop implantation, Argentina always follows these trends,” he added.

“In Argentina, the important part is inoculants related to soybeans, due to the high level of adoption that this practice has in the Argentine market and because of what soybeans represent for the country,” he explained. It is not the only one that has been strengthened, because "there are also biostimulants and bio-control products."

Recently, the firm launched NPP (Natural Plant Protection) globally, a new business unit that concentrates UPL's entire portfolio of bio-based agricultural products and technologies.
