FMC Corporation announced the launch of its farmer application ‘AgSenso Star Farmer App’ in the Philippines.

Developed specifically for Filipino farmers, the AgSenso Star Farmer App is a one-stop solution with a full suite of information and services accessible at their fingertips. Besides enabling farmers to find the right solutions to their crop challenges and nutrition needs, the app also features a product dose calculator. Thisimportant feature guides farmers on the optimal usage of crop protection products, helping them to grow food more efficiently and economically.

Veronica Tiburcio, country manager for FMC Philippines, said, "As the Filipino adage goes, “magtanim ay ‘di biro” (farming is not a joke). That is why we need to support Filipino farmers in any way we can. The AgSenso Star Farmer App is one such initative we’ve been working on. It’s our way of being available to our customers 24/7.”

Unique to the App is the in-built loyalty program where farmers can accumulate points with every purchase and redeem the points for useful items like e-vouchers, electrical appliances and household products. The FMC AgSenso Star Farmer App is now available for download from the IOS and Android app stores.

The App is the latest in a series of initiatives which FMC Philippines has introduced to boost rural growth and empowerment. Since late 2020, FMC has opened 10 FMC Learning Centers (FLC) across the country to serve as knowledge hubs for the local farming community to better understand the various types of crop pests and diseases on rice and vegetables, as well as their proper control and management.

In response to COVID-19 movement restrictions, FMC Philippines further pivoted its outreach efforts by introducing 'FMC on Wheels' which brings the FMC Learning Center conveniently to the doorsteps of farmers, who may face challenges moving about, while remaining fully compliant with the regulatory restrictions relating to COVID-19.

“Farmers rely considerably on different learning modes. Through a diversity of knowledge sources like the AgSenso Star Farmer App, FMC Learning Centers and now ‘FMC on Wheels’, we want to provide farmers with the most up-to-date information. When we strengthen the knowledge of local farmers, we strengthen their sustainability and resilience,” Tiburcio said.

‘FMC on Wheels’ is equipped with a display screen and sound system and includes an exhibition area of weeds and insect pests, as well as demonstration samples of FMC-treated crops and untreated crops. Each stop it makes is an opportunity for farmers to learn and exchange farming know-hows via small-size meetings. ‘FMC on Wheels’ started its tour in Isabela and is now going around Central Luzon, before moving to other parts of the country.
