Rainbow to launch annual 9,000-ton Captan project，becoming the world’s largest trichloromethylthio fungicide manufacturer

Rainbow’s subsidiary, Ningxia Gerui Fine Chemical Co., Ltd., published its environmental impact assessment pertaining to an annual 9,000-ton Captan project. The publication revealed the project is located in the Pingluo Industrial Park, Ningxia, China, with a total investment of RMB150 million. After its completion and together with its existing 3,000-ton captan production plant, the company’s total Captan capacity will reach an annual 12,000 tons, therefore, becoming the world’s largest trichloromethylthio fungicide manufacturer.

Ningxia Gerui Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. was founded on 16th November, 2005, and is registered in Taisha Industrial Zone, Pingluo County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Its business scope includes the production and sales of pesticides, fine chemical products and other chemical products, as well as imports and exports of products and raw materials. Currently, Shandong Weifang Rainbow holds 92.06% stakes in Ningxia Gerui Fine Chemical.

Captan is a protective trichloromethylthio fungicide with certain contact toxicity and curative effect, being safe for crops but without containing metal ions. Captan acts on a diverse range of targets, being effective in controlling both higher fungus and lower fungus. It can be used via spraying, seed dressing, hole application, root irrigation and flushing. It also has a remarkable effect in controlling soi-borne diseases and can stimulate crop growth. The use of Captan will not cause resistance.

Currently, the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has granted 70 Captan registrations, of which 11 are technicals, with content covering 92%, 95% and 97%. The registration owners mainly include Ningxia Gerui Fine Chemical, Shandong Weifang Rainbow, Yingde Greatchem Chemicals，Mesa Tech International Inc., ADAMA, Hebei Guanlong Agrochemical and Veyong Biochemical.
