Goemon: Ourofino Agrociência presents innovative solution Against caterpillars in Brazil

Brazilian agriculture is a world leader and occupies the first positions in the production of grains such as soybeans (in which it is a leader), corn and coffee. National producers rely on technologies to increase yield in crops, including in the crop protection segment, area in which Ourofino Agrociência operates, with differentiated and innovative products, and the company's portfolio now gains an unprecedented reinforcement, Goemon, an insecticide with a new molecule in the country, developed by ISK Biosciences.

“The new molecule combines high efficiency, selectivity and stability of control throughout the Brazilian territory, " explains large accounts marketing manager Lenisson Carvalho. The product, available for commercialization, is an insecticide with the active ingredient cyclaniliprole, from the Chemical Group of Diamides, aimed at the management of pests in corn, soybean, tomato, and coffee crops.

In addition to the features mentioned, Goemon offers extended carryover and broad spectrum of control. As benefits of the product, Carvalho highlights its importance in Integrated Pest Management (IPM), rotating mechanism of action and selectivity to natural enemies.

The formulation is effective even against hard-to-control caterpillars, which can reduce crop productivity by approximately 75%, according to Carvalho. Among them, the troublesome Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), considered one of the main agricultural pests in corn. Helicoverpa (Helicoverpa armigera), Soybean looper (Chrysodeixis includens) and Leaf miner (Leucoptera coffeella) also controlled by Goemon, the result of the partnership with ISK.

The Japanese company has a strategic partnership with Ourofino Agrociência since 2019 for research and the launching of products in the Brazilian market.  For the current fiscal year, which will end next year, the crop protection company intends to increase its portfolio even more. 

According to Araújo, director of Marketing, R&D and RD&I of Ourofino Agrociência, this plan is bonded to the entrance in the patent market, but not only that. 

“It reinforces the continuous evolution of the company and the capacity of production of the factory located in Uberaba (MG), considered by auditors one of the most modern and complete globally”, he states.
