For the sale of agrochemical products in the Argentine market, initial registration and periodic renewals are required, which must be processed by Senasa Argentina (National Food Safety and Quality Service).

A few days ago, Senasa itself published a guide on how to process records digitally, over the internet, as well as the cost of the process.

In the case of a biological input, the value depends on the product category, but the maximum value is 264,000 Argentine Pesos in the case of biopesticides based on a pre-existing and already approved and registered molecule. At the current exchange rate, this value corresponds to approximately US$2,724.

In cases of the annual renewal in the RNTV (National Registry of Plant Therapeutics) of active ingredients, the value is only 3,600 Argentine Pesos, equivalent to approximately $37. This value also applies to plant nutrition products, phytoregulators, additives, packaging, formulated products, experimental molecules, pheromones and adjuvants.

Recently, Senasa Argentina published a new online guide aimed at those interested in the commercialization of phytosanitary and biological products, fertilizers, correctives and bio-inputs. All information to start the procedures is available on the government agency's website: https://www.argentina.gob.ar/senasa/programas-sanitarios/fitosanitarios-y-fertilizantes

“The time that elapses for the Registration of Products carried out by the National Directorate of Agrochemicals, Veterinary Products and Food, is subject to several factors, among which ‘the quality of the information presented by the interested party’ stands out, this means compliance, reliably, of each of the requirements established by the legislation in force,” Senasa affirmed.

Historically, however, as can be seen in the statistics kept by Argentine regulators, applications for registration of new products submitted by companies are, in general, between 1,000 and 1,500 processes per year, on average. In addition, requests to change products that have already been approved add up to an average of approximately 400 per year.
