Recently, BASF has introduced its new wheat fungicide Sphaerex™ to control head scab and reduce the impacts of DON. This product has been registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and is available for the 2022 growing season.

Sphaerex fungicide has two active ingredients, metconazole and prothioconazole. Many of AgroPages’ readers feel interested about the registration status of these active ingredients in China. According to China Pesticide Registration Watch (CPRW), there are 3 metconazole registrations and 5 prothioconazole registrations approved by China's Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA).
To Aug 2021, ADAMA Huifeng (Jiangsu) Co.,Ltd holds the only ICAMA registration of metconazole, with one of 95% TC and two formulations.

There are 2 prothioconazole TC registrations held respectively by Anhui Jiuyi and Shandong Hailir Chemical. Two prothioconazole SC products are mixtures with carbendazim and tebuconazole respectively.
