Soy planting has started in Ukraine. According to information available as of April 21, this crop was planted to 42 Th ha, or 4% of its projected area (1138 Th ha). At the same time last year soy was planted to a 4 Th ha larger area (46 Th ha).
The sunflower planting pace also lags behind last year’s one. So, 427 Th ha of sunflower, or 12% of the projected 3547 Th ha, had been planted in Ukraine as of April 21. At the same date last year the planted area equaled 552 Th ha.
Sunflower sowing started in Russia. By April 21 sunflower was seeded on 106.5 Th ha or 1.6% of intended acreage (6.8 Ml ha).
By the same time last year Russia had sown sunflower on 314 Th ha.
